Caterpillar and Navistar are in talks with China's largest exporter of light trucks to create a joint venture in the country to manufacture the vehicles.
The deal with Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Company will give Caterpillar, the largest maker of construction equipment, and Navistar, the US truck maker, a foothold in China's commercial vehicle market.
In the first seven months of this year, total vehicle sales rose 23 per cent in China to 7.2m.
It dropped 32 per cent to 5.8m during the same period in the US. |
